Showtime2015Review
1st term...starts Feb. 13... Those attending this term were Joel, Garry, Hamisi, Alley, Thanks. We pursued skits on Exodus, Prophets, and also started writing  some scripts for videos in the future sometime, we also did some theatrical games, & had lots of good food & fun

2nd term...starts May 7... Those attending this term were Joel, Garry, Hamisi, Alley, Thanks, Love. We pursued the Bible thru skits on Seasons, Autumn, Change worked on a video skit for Debbie's upcoming sermon "Righteousness" see video page . We started filming outdoors but it started raining after a few scenes, so we had to go back to my factory & set up an impromptu set... so it took a lot longer than we thought to produce... but it was very well received in church.... We also enjoyed some theatrical games as usual & we are starting to eat healthier fresh foods at our mini banquets & fellowship. Joel is doing drama deploma at TAFE full time & has been in several other plays this year. One of our former team members landed a part in a local production of Mary Poppins. Other members are doing theatrical things at school. I've heaps of bookings for Goodnews coming up & heading on tour inland in September.... it's go, go, go!

3rd term... starts July 23...

March 15,ThursNite Theme:Animal Bible Stories2012
Present were Garry, Joel, Sarah, Timothy(M), Michelle, Hamisi, Carole , 2 visiting ladies Kathleen, Chris
6.00pm -The Banquet
BBQ Chicken, frankfurts, berry pie
7.00pm - Showtime
The interview was with Kathleen a visitor from a church in Rathmines, who came along with another lady Chris. Pretty much anyone can fit into things theatrical.  As we discovered Kathleen has a gift of helps and hospitality she leads the hospitality roster at her church. We coerce her to use her talents at “things”. Her and her husband in the past, had been managers of a large Christian camp centre in the ACT .

Carole started with first act, with a well rehearsed portrayal of Balaam’s donkey seeing an angel. This was done from the point of view of the donkey. The Lord was trying to open Balaam’s eyes.  Hamisi used Tim as Isaac to tell the story of the sacrifice where God spared Isaac in exchange for a “ram”.  Joel did the same story from the point of view of the ram who was actually a “secret agent” who went around doing good.  He saw what looked like a murder taking place, tried to get closer but got his horns caught in a thicket. He then noticed that Abraham was coming at him, with a knife… it ended there with his immortal words “whoops I think I have a problem !”.  Garry did a "Who am I" – we had to guess an obscure animal that was on the ark.  Turned out to be the dinosaur “Behemoth” mentioned in Job 41. Chris our other visitor did a great story about the snake in the "garden of Eden" emphasizing her “S”s.  Garry used a puppet and worked with Sarah who was quite his match with quick witty lines. We ended around 8pm
8.00pm - The Late Session
We continue 'til 9pm if there are 3 people wishing to do so...No late session tonight.

'chews the cud' = speaking ! .. 'parting the hoof'  = going ! the gospel according to animals. Ben & Sam presented an impro skit about a couple of believers who hatch a scheme to do the right thing but thru wrong means... Peter & Timothy,,, used everyone in their skit about Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey, we all spread our palms (hands) in front... Hi Garry
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed last night. It was a hoot!
If and when we do my skit, in church I have a long dressing gown suitable for my character to wear.
I’ve already got my skit ready for next week – The Lost Sheep – so you’ll have to pick something else!
I’ll bring my gown for that skit too, and I somehow think it will feature prominently in my winter performances!
I’ll get Caleb to be the sheep. He likes being in lots of things.
Also from next week on, I’ll bring a dessert – from Sara Lee  !
Regards
Carole

The skit on Sunday created more interest for Things Theatrical with those enjoying our increasingly visual church, and those saying they will come along one nite soon

May 26  The Pizzazz Performance Review Thus 26.5.11

Well the nights are certainly getting colder, it's almost winter, who'd start "an anything" this time of year?

Freely you receive - Freely give.... so many gifts... so many talents ....God has made us with this great desire to want to give... but it's equally good ...in fact it seems even better to receive.... to be part of the audience (although Paul did say the givers get the better end of the deal). So even if you don't have an act come to watch, gather with others who have things theatrical....

5 people made it to the meeting all eager to give of themselves, to connect to one another...food, fun, faith,,family, finance, fellowship all pooled in to bless & benefit one another.

....the banquet was enough to feed 15 people...  a big casserole 2 extra large pizzas, stacks of mini quiches, the giving is in generous proportions .... so come and eat.... taste & see that the Lord is GOOD !

The interview  was with Hamisi, a mini in site into his name, Carole tied the Light of the world verses with a local history of Newcastle lighthouses,
Caleb was in colourful costume and gave a great dramatic monologue, of the beatitudes, Garry had a support team of Dianne & Hamisi for a skit about storing your treasures in Heaven, Hamisi taught us a Swahili praise song.....WOW !!!!!! .....That was just the first half.....

then after INTERMISSION....

Garry presented the Beatle-attitudes... as recorded by John & Paul............ (and George & Ringo), then we went through an impro exercise... then we prayed for our world, nation, leaders and those of our group... & the curtain fell at 9.00pm twas a great nite
[5]

19th May   Brief Report Thursday  Theme was Genesis Chapter 1
8 in attendance, I interviewed young Jeremiah, Carole presented an interesting percussion act, co staring Caleb, Stephanie & Kirstian danced various animals, Caleb presented a very rehearsed 'mime' of the 7 days of creation,  myself Garry, & Hamisi (with a puppet)   reinterpreted  the original creation story... in to a "new creation" story,  we ended in prayer...

Lots of people couldn't come for lots of different reasons

Well our first night was very cold, 8 people braved it, (plus an extra) we met upstairs at church in the kitchen fro a meal (bring a plate style), then we moved into the room off the kitchen. there were several apologies, but hey a great start....
[8]
 Hi everyone,
Happy Holidays.... Remember Things Theatrical resumes 28th of July.

Thankyou to everyone who came to ...strut there stuff... Those who came to be audience, and all those who tried to get there... well maybe next term...  Plenty of pictorial & dramatic parables were presented... Jesus said nothing without using parables and illustrations ...he reminded John his cousin to remember and consider the things he'd seen & heard...

Marianne & I are off to New Zealand for 2 weeks, for a well earned rest.... Our kids & there spouses are coming as well and my grandson too of course he's almost 1. We hope to get him on snow skis when we are at Queenstown.
Picture

Thurs.May 12, 2011is our First night, 6pm at the Church.
6pm start .then there will be an intermission at about 7.30pm if you need to leave early (eg with young kids etc) & will probably continue to about 8.30 -9pm

Food always helps fellowship, so bring a plate to share, probably a drink as well, and a few paper plates, plastic cutlery... hey everyone pray for a few creative cooks to help in this area (hospitality giftings).... this is a place for creativity.

Come ready to share about your giftings of course in a creative way....  5-10 min each

....release your talent !!!!

...if you can bring a filled-in gift & talent sheet this would be good but otherwise fill one in on the night for your name tag.... as a connect group I believe we will continue to grow... as I don't know of anything like this in church circles.... a great opportunity for others to come to give their talents to the Lord & his people... greeting everyone by name will cause connection immediately...

See you Thursday

Showing Jesus .....Garry
